Having a handheld mirror, blanket or wrap, journal, and pen could be beneficial for this meditation. Settle into a comfortable position free from distractions.
Only God has a flawless perception of our beauty. Since we are created in His likeness, our beauty is inherent regardless of others' recognition. There is no necessity to alter ourselves for validation. We should not fear its disappearance. Beauty originates from God, and He has bestowed upon us an irresistible charm.
Â
According to Psalm 139:14, God intricately crafted us in our mother's womb, carefully shaping our form and defining our unique characteristics. The verse praises God for creating us in a remarkable and marvelous way, reflecting His awe-inspiring works. Being fearfully and wonderfully made signifies being exceptional and crafted with the same reverence we hold for God, whose magnificence encompasses profound beauty.
Â
Who are we to attempt to remove this artistry from our skin? If He intricately crafted us, why would we desire to undo such beauty and wonder? He anticipated puberty and old age. He was aware of every single aspect of our lives and molded us with those considerations. We don't have to desperately pursue improvements, sometimes even perfection, to the extent of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual exhaustion. I believe this is not what Christ envisioned for us when he assured us of the abundant life. And I'm quite certain that enduring peace cannot be achieved through a size two jeans or flawless complexion.
Â
Waterfalls, flowers, and stars display God's craftsmanship; we should see the same in ourselves.
Â
Our beauty, reflecting God's glory, goes beyond outward appearances. Nurturing a gentle and tranquil spirit, as in 1 Peter 3:4, holds great value to God.
Â
For a true transformation, sit at the Father's feet, acknowledge your need for an identity makeover, and let Him renew your spirit to experience the rich life He promises. Give Him full authority to reveal your inner beauty.
Inner Healing Exercise
Now we move into a place seeing our true identity reflected in the mirror.
Â
Father, guide us in understanding that our deepest needs and thoughts may not align with Your concept of beauty. Help us discover the essence of our identity and recognize areas needing alignment with Your truth.
Ask the Father what false beliefs you hold about yourself that contradict reality.
Take your mirror, look into it, and write down what you see, without filtering.
{Pause in His Presence}
Â
Now, Lord, we seek Your perspective.
Close your eyes, and when ready, look in the mirror again to see yourself from the Lord's perspective. Â
{Pause in His Presence}
Â
Wrap yourself in a blanket or wrap representing the Father's secure and comforting love. Allow His truth about you to reshape your self-perception while you sit in truth that God created you to be beautiful.
